Another track off Jimmy Whisper’s upcoming album, Summer in Pain, “Heart Don’t Know” races like the heat of July on the outskirts of Chicago. The song is urgent, making you tap your feet wildly as you listen. Whispers layers synths with electronic drum beats as he pleads to a lover for answers, making it feel like a lo-fi, rambling voicemail to which the recipient may never reply. He wants you to know that “the heart don’t know how to feel,” telling his ‘baby’ that he doesn’t need to be with anyone else but her. It’s as if Whispers is trying to touch us from his Chicago bedroom in order to teach us how to feel.
