TJ Carter, known to most as Lil Silva, created a masterpiece with his latest release “Don’t You Love.” The track starts off slow with an eerie, mystical intro, but at 1:50 the funky haze is lifted when the hip beat and heavy synth come in. Then singer/songwriter BANKS’ vocals are amplified and the vibe of the track reaches its peak. The song is Lil Silva’s precursor to his five-track EP, Mabel, which drops Tuesday, August 5. Besides teaming up for “Don’t You Love,” Silva worked on BANKS’ upcoming album, Goddess, which will be released in early September. “Don’t You Love” has over 118,000 plays on SoundCloud and at least 3,500 listeners have already favorited it. Lil Silva may be able to push UK Funky, a genre where contemporary EDM meets classic funk and R&B, into the mainstream with this track. It is a song that you may have to listen to more than once, but once you do, you can never get it out of your head.
