Maple Glider, aka Tori Zietsch, shares “Baby Tiger”, the latest offering off of her forthcoming record To Enjoy is the Only Thing. The track is beautiful in both its simplicity and its vulnerability. Zietsch shares her experiences feeling detached from herself and the man she was attempting to distract herself with. The most comfort she is able to find is in the caring scratch of a cat, or Baby Tiger, on her door, checking in on her. The cat also questions the unknown visitors that are intruding their home. This tiny, sweet animal has become a protector and a carer — a source of emotional support in the midst of a troubling time.

If this is any indication, Maple Glider’s album is going to make me feel a lot of things. Zietsch’s unique look on intimacy, her secondary awareness of her own humanity and vulnerability, and her ability to communicate that emotionally, but not indulgently, is sublime. Get ready to draw the curtains, light a smoke, have a good cry if you need, and spend some time with your feelings and Maple Glider.
