Nite Fields may hail from Melbourne, but they are gaining traction here stateside. Merging shoegaze, post-punk, and psych rock, Nite Fields craft songs that feel like a foggy night on the dance floor — you don’t know whether to be in your head, your heart, or your body, so you occupy them all at once, and follow the flow down the rabbit hole. “You I Never Knew,” a new single from their upcoming album Depersonalisation, is exemplary of this push and pull: inviting you in with an energetic dance tempo yet stopping you in your track with the ethereal guitar textures and warm, baritone vocals. You can bet we’ll be on the lookout for their full-length in the New Year — and you should, too.
