Listen This Week: Lip Critic releases “Jackpot”

In the lead-up to Lip Critic’s third studio album Theft World, arriving May 1 via Partisan Records, the band has dropped their new single “Jackpot.” A digitally maximalist journey, “Jackpot” details the escapades of a gambling addict who “still craves the feeling.” The track is frenetic, capturing the paranoia inherent in pursuing a futile vice. Infusing electroclash with a punk ethos, “Jackpot” sets the stage for a concept album exploring chaos, obsession, and misinterpretation.

Alongside the announcement of Theft World, Lip Critic also unveiled “Theft Saga,” a three-show residency presented by Perfectly Imperfect. Known for their high-energy performances, the band will play March 21 at Yong Xin Tan Laundromat, March 26 in Spring Bar’s basement, and April 9 at Frost St Boxing Ring. Unconventional venues for a nonconformist band—make sure to mark your calendars.
