“The Tower” is the first song we’ve heard from Baltimore duo Wye Oak’s recently announced album, Shriek. The band has stated that there will be no guitar on the album, which adds an interesting wrinkle into what we can expect from Shriek. If “The Tower” is any indication, the change in style hasn’t done much to diminish the quality of the band’s work. It stomps through its run-time, hopping from keyboard to synth as it sees fit. It certainly feels like their formula has been boiled down to what makes it most efficient. Listen below.
Shriek is out April 29th on Merge.
