Baby’s All Right: Folk Bitch Trio
-
In Now Would Be A Good Time, Grace Sinclair, Jeanie Pilkington, and Heide Peverelle’s vocals are not singular, but united. If you’re an indie folk fan and listen to Phoebe Bridgers, Sister., or Skullcrusher, check out my favorite track off the album, God’s A Different Sword.

-
Nightclub 101: Saintseneca, Radiator Hospital, Mal Devisa
-
American folk rock band Saintsenca dropped Highwalllow & Supermoon Songs on Halloween, the group’s first album in over seven years. This album sounds like it could have been released in 2015 (in the best possible way.) Not much has changed since Dark Arc.

I’m counting down the days until this show. I love Wednesday. I love Bleeds, I love Rat Saw God, I love Twin Plagues, I love I was Trying to Describe You to Someone. I will never, ever forget the moment I first heard Coyote. I am going to lose my shit.

-
Crane Operator, the instrumental electronic sub-label of Orange Label Records, is hosting a free night at Nightclub 101. If you aren’t familiar with Alain C. Montgomery, give his debut Unreleased a listen before the gig. With experimental scores and ambient soundscapes, Unreleased is a delicate collage of synths and samples.

Good Room: Frost Children (DJ set)

Build up anticipation for Frost Children’s show on Friday with their DJ set at Good Room. Throughout interviews, Angel and Lulu Prost name both Skrillex and deadmau5 as major influences for their project. With that knowledge, picture how goated their DJ set will sound.

Warsaw: Frost Children
-
To quote Dizzie Rascal’s Bassline Junkie, “You might think I’m over the top/but when I hear that bassline drop/I just can’t control my actions/But I feel satisfaction.” SISTER is one of my favorite releases of the year. Bound2, Dirty girl, ELECTRIC; every track, every drop, the bass carries.

-
TV EYE: Work Wife, Sister.
-
Work Wife finds the middle ground between indie rock and Americana. The band’s new album Parade paints a picture of a summer; its lyrics are about driving around in small towns, waiting in parking lots, and sipping lemonade.

I’m just a teenage dirtbag babyyy…. Wheatus has released five albums and all I know is one song.
-
-
Footlight Presents at the Windjammer: Cash Langdon, Oldstar, Fraternal Twin
-
Alabama artist Cash Langdon’s new album Dogs is a foray into southern identity. From the self-referential lyricism to the country rock feel, Dogs is the type of twangy indie rock that Sparklehorse would approve of.

For the past twenty one years, Jens Lekman has sung at weddings and written wedding songs for couples as a way to support his “songwriting career financially as well as giving music a purpose in the streaming economy.” Adding to the curious situation, David Levithan wrote a fictional story loosely based on Lekman’s dual life as a wedding singer. In return Lekman wrote Songs For Other People’s Weddings, a musical retelling of the book.

-
Nightclub 101: Tosser, Fraternal Twin, Taurus Judge, Marblemouth
-
Tosser’s a staple in DC’s DIY scene (shoutout). With heavy guitars and careening leads, Tosser’s album Sheer Humanity is some real rock music.
