Mon. 12/29:
- Palladium Times Square: A Flock of Seagulls, Men Without Hats, Thomas Dolby, The Motels, Bow Wow Wow, Tommy Tutone
- The self proclaimed “Totally Tubular” festival makes its way to NYC. I have a soft spot for new wave music, especially A Flock Seagulls I Ran (So Far Away).
Tues. 12/30:
- Baker Falls: Torture and the Desert Spiders
- Warm yourself up for New Years Eve with Torture Tuesday. Torture and the Desert Spiders bring something different to each night of their residency at Baker Falls. You’ll have to see for yourself what is to come.
Weds. 12/31:
- The Broadway: DJ Assault, Laker Brady, Tek Lintowe, Gods Wisdom, DJ Moonbby, DJ Funny Pat
- Ring in 2026 with everlovin’ presents at The Broadway. Dance to a host of talented DJs and drink free champagne at midnight. Cheers xx
- Nightclub 101: Been Stellar, Catcher, James Ivy, Harry Teardrop
- *BC5* Been Stellar, Catcher, James Ivy, and Harry Teardrop are all djing on NYE. Tickets available at doors only.
- Elsewhere: Mall Grab, Effy, Baltra, Swami Sound, Dazegxd
- A singular ticket gets you access to every inch of Elsewhere for New Year’s Eve. In the Main Hall, catch Mall Grab, Effy, Baltra… or make your way to Zone One for sets by Swami Sound, Dazegxd, and gun.mp3. Elsewhere’s loft even has its own lineup of DJs. Choose your own adventure this NYE.
- Hart Bar: Laveda, youbet, knotted
- Laveda’s latest album Love Darla is grungey in all the right ways. In the past few months, Laveda’s Ali Genevich and Jake Brooks have been increasingly active in their respective solo projects, but the union of their talents in Laved melds into something truly special.
- Brooklyn Paramount: Robyn
- You know Robyn will play the hits on New Year’s Eve. The Swedes do pop music best. I hope Robyn’s setlist is primarily Body Talk; it’s one of the first albums I had downloaded on my iPod shuffle.
Thurs. 1/1
- Please sleep.
Fri. 01/2
- Main Drag Music: Lucas Price’s Torch The Amplifier Opening Reception w/ Scarboro / Extreme Sports / Yeah Baby / Flesh Mechanic / High Waisted (solo set)
-
Lucas Price opens his gallery show “Torch the Amplifier” with performances by Scarboro, Yeah Baby, Extreme Sports, Flesh Mechanic, and High Waisted. Come for the art, stay for the music.
-
Sat. 01/3
- Elsewhere: Boyscoutmarie, Spirit Ghost, For Opal, Mer Marcum
- This one is for the lo-fi indie music lovers. Think 2010s female fronted indie band; a touch of melancholy, a dash of whispery lyrics.
Sun. 01/4
- Nightclub 101: Bellcave, Jemi, Big Blind
- Bellcave released two singles in 2025: Gardenia and Pencil Drawing. The group reminds me of Mac Demarco or Rex Orange County, their tracks are drenched in sunshine.
- Bowery Ballroom: DCBday
- I could write an essay about how important David Berman’s work is and how much it means to me. Honor the greatest at Bowery Ballroom, and speak Berman’s truth because “final words are so hard to devise/promise that I’ll always remember your pretty eyes.”
