Live Show Round Up 2/23 – 3/1

Monday 2/23:

Tuesday 2/24:

  • Nightclub 101: Why Bonnie, D.A. Crimson, Screenager
    • Why Bonnie closes out their February residency at Nightclub 101 this Tuesday. Bringing D.A. Crimson and Screenager to the stage, Why Bonnie’s finale can’t be missed.
  • Purgatory: Pink Must and E.R. Visit
    • Bloody Knuckles brings their final free show to Purgatory, this time with Pink Must and E.R. Visit. Pink Must’s music sounds like a mix of Chanel Beads and Feeble Little Horse; it’s ethereal, experimental, and diverse. Check out their track Karaoke of The Bends before the gig.
  • Union Pool: Six Organs of Admittance, Mark Morgan
    • Northern California guitarist Ben Chasny’s project Six Organs of Admittance has received critical acclaim for its amalgam of folk and drone music. Tracks like Song for JW are enriched with sonic textures that know no boundaries. Chasny is also signed to Drag City (which is very significant to me).

Wednesday 2/25:

  • ALPHAVILLE: Paper Lady, Retail Drugs
    • Paper Lady’s recent LP Idle Fate is reminiscent of early Slow Pulp and Wednesday. Songs like Slit careen with feedback and soar with catchy guitar leads.

Thursday 2/26:

Friday 2/27:

Saturday 2/28:

  • Knockdown Center: PEACHES, Model/Actriz
    • Electroclash pioneer PEACHES new album No Lube So Rude is sexy and fun. Speaking about the LP in an interview, PEACHES said “The world is in a very friction state — it’s very dry, and people are not understanding each other, or wanting to understand each other…ehen that happens in a sexual experience, or when you’re feeling dry, you have this magical tool called lube that can get you through … and I wish we had that magic tool in our world.” She’s an icon.
  • Market Hotel: MX Lonely, Wiring, bloodsports
    • Stereogum named MX Lonely’s album ALL MONSTERS their album of the week; this LP (and it’s Julia’s War…) is for the grungiest of nugazers.

Sunday 3/1:
