Live Show Round Up 4/20 – 4/26

Mon. 4/20:

  • Beacon Theatre: Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman

    • Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman’s collaborative relationship has alt country fans far and wide frothing at the mouth. Back in 2024, the rapper Aminé even praised Right Back to It as the song of the summer. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the two live in action.

  • Nightclub 101: Nat Shaheen, Plaase, Wesley Wolfe

    • rocknite is back at Nightclub 101 with another Good English Records approved lineup. From Nat Shaheen’s acoustic serenades to Wesley Wolfe’s post punky tracks, this bill has it all.

Tues. 4/21:

Weds. 4/22:

Thurs. 4/23:

  • Webster Hall: The New Pornographers

    • Veteran Canadian indie rockers The New Pornographers’ recent album The Former Site Of is an “album of ambivalence.” Some say the LP will be The New Pornographer’s final release, but I don’t believe that to be true. Carl Newman and Neko Case will always have more to say.

  • Xanadu: Metric (album release party)

    • Grab your skates and roll around the rink at Xanadu to celebrate the release of Romanticize The Dive, the tenth studio album from Metric. The night doubles as a music video shoot for their new single Crush Forever, so prepare to bust out your best rollerskating moves.

Fri. 4/24:

  • Russian and Turkish Baths: Loose Buttons, ideasforconversations, Ayegy (dj), dollmaker (dj)

    • 3rd Space and Loose Buttons present a show at the Russian and Turkish Baths; a night of sexy, once in a lifetime fun. Envision hearing ideasforconversation’s track dog in the bathhouse; steam obscuring your vision, bass pumping through your blood. It will be unforgettable.

  • MoMa PS1: ear, No Bra, ss3bby

    • ear is everywhere. This Friday, they’re playing the MoMA PS1’s Greater New York Party, a celebration of the museum’s Greater New York show that opened April 16th. After-hours gallery access, a bar, and the chance to see Nerves played live? Sign me up.

  • Nightclub 101: Miss Grit

    • I’m a sucker for any type of electronic music that incorporates orchestral strings. That’s why I can’t stop listening to Miss Grit’s single Tourist Mind off her upcoming album Under My Umbrella. It’s a treasure trove of synth textures.

  • Sony Hall: The Innocence Mission

    • Late 90s/early 2000s indie rock band The Innocence Mission released their new album The Raindrop Cars last July. Vocalist Karen Peris’s voice reminds me of Mazzy Star; soft, sweet, and melancholic.

  • For the Record: Babe City, Chloe Southern, Annabel Asher

    • Babe City’s new single Upper Hand has a feeble little horse feel: poppy, with grunged out guitars and synths. Be sure to listen to their full album I Love Your Forever before the show.

  • Irving Plaza: Eliza McLamb

    • I only know Eliza McLamb because I used to listen to her podcast Binchtopia during college. McLamb’s sound is straight out of early 2020, it’s indie music that brings about a high school, “before I knew” type of nostalgia.
