Live Show Round Up 4/6 – 4/12

Mon. 4/6:

  • Nightclub 101: Fraternal Twin, Yeah Baby, nettle
    • rocknite returns to Nightclub 101 with an eclectic bill. From Fraternal Twin’s laid back indie to nettle’s my bloody valentine coded shoegaze, this is not a show you want to miss.

Tues. 4/7:

  • Mercury Lounge: Art Brut
    • English post punk group Art Brut is playing their iconic album Bang Bang Rock & Roll Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at Mercury Lounge. Self-referential to their LP’s title, Art Brut knows how to rock. The band has a Mark E. Smith vibe, if anyone else reading is also obsessed with The Fall.
  • The Cathedral of St. John the Divine: Robert Plant, Saving Grace, Suzi Dian
    • Within St. John the Divine’s holy nave, Robert Plant, the lead singer and lyricist of Led Zeppelin, will play his solo work. Plant remains prolific, with his twelfth solo album Saving Grace releasing in 2025.

Weds. 4/8:

  • Baby’s All Right: Stuck, Editrix, Open Head
    • Protomarytr’s contemporary counterpart arrived on the scene. Stuck’s album Optimizer’s got that gritty, post punk sound; songs like Deadlift are clearly influenced by Joe Casey.
  • Music Hall of Williamsburg: Whitney, Dari Bay
    • The beanie clad, Blundstone wearing Brooklyn army will no doubt be in attendance to Whitney’s two day stint at Music Hall of Williamsburg. If you’re curious, the band’s recent album Small Talk stays true to the band’s indie, relaxed sound.
  • Purgatory: Bloomsday, Wilby, and Screenager
    • When it starts to warm up, I get a specific craving for acoustic music. Bloomsday’s album Heart of the Artichoke satisfies my itch every time. If you’re into boygenius or Widowspeak, you’ll love what Bloomsday is releasing.

Thurs. 4/9:

Fri. 4/10:

Sat. 4/11:

  • ALPHAVILLE: gobbinjr, Gemma, Foyer Red
    • gobbinjr is playing ALPHAVILLE for the release of her new album crystal rabbit moon, dropping this Thursday. Singles off the album, happened yet and just a dream, are a developed and matured bedroom pop.
  • Market Hotel: swami sound, alsoknownasrox, gum.mp3
    • RA presents “Crash Course,” an evening dedicated to electronic music at Market Hotel. What makes this bill special is that the artists playing work with live hardware and code. Experiencing analog electronic music is hard to pass up.

Sun. 4/12:

  • Stone Circle Theatre: Zachary Mezzo String Ensemble
    • You might recognize Zachary Mezzo’s name for playing with Catcher and Christopher Emond. Mezzo is a talented experimental violinist and composer, blending elements of ambient, minimalism, chamber music and noise in his work. At the Stone Circle Theatre, his string ensemble is sure to play an expressive and textured landscape of sounds.
