Live Show Round Up 7/27 – 8/2

Mon. 7/27:

  • Nightclub 101: Perfect 100, Ditch, Hipsy Gap

    • Shout out Seb. Seb mixed my band’s music, is at every single rocknite, and also recorded and mixed ditch’s new single silent movie actor, acting. Head to Nightclub 101 to support your local producers— the scene’s unsung heroes—and artists.

  • Warsaw: Wunderhorse, Been Stellar

    • Wunderhorse crossed the pond this summer for a North American tour, with NYC band Been Stellar supporting. Both bands haven’t released new music in a while, and Wunderhorse’s Midas can’t hold me over forever. Let’s hope Wunderhorse plays some new tunes.

Tues. 7/28:

Weds. 7/29:

Thurs. 7/30:

Fri. 7/31:

  • Knockdown Center: ML Buch,  Klein, Precious Renee Tucker

    • Our cph+ hero. ML Buch is for the melancholy and restless. You’ll have to see what she brings to Outline Fest for yourself.

  • Baby’s All Right: Zoh Amba, Jeanne River

    • Zoh Amba’s debut album Eyes Full is a testament of the heart. Blending their Appalachian roots with their experience as an avant-garde saxophonist, Zoh’s music stands on its own. An amalgam of loose acoustic blues, feedback-drenched electric guitar, and folk, Zoh Amba is bringing a new perspective to the growing canon of queer indie folk artists.

  • Baby’s All Right: Cities Aviv, Patch +, boysinblush, peace thru strength

    • Have you gotten on the Silknode waitlist yet? The new app drops soon and I’m hoping it will fill nina protocol’s absence. I trust the people running this platform, getting Patch+ to headline is not easy to book.

  • Pioneer Works: Dan Deacon, Macula Dog, MSHR

    • Dan Deacon is one talented dude. The Baltimore-based composer reminds me of an indie Damon Alburn or Jonny Greenwood, writing scores for hundreds of films and his own eccentric music, chalked with originality. Be sure to give Deacon’s album Gliss Riffer a listen, unironically, “Meme Generator” is a great song.

Sat. 8/1:

  • Ukrainian National Home: Iceage

  • Nightclub 101: Zastava, Catcher, Amiture Music

    • Detroit based post-punk/noise band Zastava rocks. If you live and die for 90s alternative rock (like me), listen to the band’s new single “Blaine.” Within the span of five minutes, dynamic riffs enter and exit, and simple dissonances become charged.

  • Union Pool: Smirk, Bedridden, Michael Younker
    • Smirk’s new album Speculative Fiction takes on an edgy shade of jangle pop. It’s for those who love Teenage Fanclub, but also hold an affinity for 80s punk rock.

Sun. 8/2:
