-

-
Two shows in one night at Nightclub 101. Come for the first bill and stay for rocknite. Tickets are only $10 and Retail Drugs always carries. Jake Brook’s new album, Factory Reset, turns convention on its head.

Purgatory: My Guitar is Trying to Kill Me, Rose House, Nat Shaheen, and Purse
-
Noise rock band My Guitar is Trying to Kill Me hasn’t released any music since One Day I Will Hope Again, but trust, they have new material. Engulf yourself in the wall of sound, transcend to the distorted heavens, and bring earplugs.
-
-
Union Pool: Six Organs of Admittance, Mark Morgan
-
Drag City artist Six Organs of Admittance’s free show at Union Pool got rescheduled to this Tuesday! Ben Chasny’s guitar playing is reminiscent of John Fahey with a depth of synthesized textures. His work evokes a sense of hope.
-
Weds. 3/11:
-
Bowery Ballroom: Glitterer
-
Post hardcore group Glitterer, Ned Russin of Title Fight’s band, new LP erer is a must listen. Glitterer knows how to meld a twinkly synth with a heavy, distorted guitar like no one’s business.
-

-
TV EYE: Lydia Lunch,The Art Gray Noizz Quintet, Genre is death, Sku
-
Even if the name Lydia Lunch doesn’t ring a bell, you most likely have heard Some Velvet Morning. The 80s artist has a storied career (in the early 90s Lunch and Kim Gordon teamed up on solo project Harry Crews…) and a deep catalog that you’ll want to hear.
-
Sat. 3/14:
-
Stone Circle Theatre: Claire Ozmun, Skyler Skjelset, Talk Bazaar, Napsack
-
Claire Ozmun’s debut album Always Living Somewhere drops this Friday. If you’re into a singer songwriter, indie rock, slightly twangy sound, you’ll love Ozmun’s work. Singles Routine and Stray Black Dog remind me of the era of female fronted indie rock in the 2010s.
-
-
Cassette: Dogs On Shady Lane, Raavi, Fraternal Twin
-
Dogs on Shady Lane’s music is clean, jazz-infused indie pop. It’s laid back and meant for a coffee shop. Listen to Cole St. before the show.
-
Sun. 3/15:
-
Pianos: Council Of Foreign Relations, Excepter, Marcia Bassett, Taralie Peterson
-
As a political science major, I think Council Of Foreign Relations name, and music, is genius. Songs like My Homemade Movie and Recourse are mathy, they’re intricately built and angular.
-
-
TV EYE: Daniel Romano’s Outfit
-
Daniel Romano and The Outfit’s new album Preserver’s of the Pearl is centered around what the band calls “Rock & Roll Magick,” the belief that music is a sacred act, a force that can reconnect the individual to what is larger. The spirit of rock music runs through the band’s LP and resultingly, its sound is reminiscent of classic 70s rock.
