Music Discovery is Everything: A Playlist by Ezri Appel

Ezri Appel is a NYC-based filmmaker and photographer drawn to the unclean and unresolved. Working across directing, editing, cinematography, and photography, Appel moves instinct-first — capturing real lives and weaving dreamlike narratives that don’t explain, they linger.

Their films surface in underground rooms and artist-run festivals, from NewFest and GRRL HAUS Cinema to Lincoln Center, placing Appel firmly inside the indie and queer film continuum. Ezri is also the mind behind our AC15 promo videos. We wanted to hear what lives inside their head, so Ezri made us a playlist “inspired by rituals, candlelight, forests, and dreams.” Enjoy below.
