Photo Diary: NewDad 8/5 @ Jean’s & TVOD 8/8 @ Baby’s All Right

Local photographer Kate Cassise was out late and nightcrawling two weeks ago, when she photographed two of the hottest shows that week in New York City – Party Girls Never Die featuring NewDad on August 5 at Jean’s and TVOD‘s album release on August 8 at Baby’s All Right.

At Jean’s, the main event was NewDad, who hails from Galway, Ireland.  The indie-rock five-piece, who are gearing up for the release of their sophomore album, Altar, on Sept. 19, performed an intimate, unplugged set of new and old songs, including a beautifully reworked and stripped-back cover of Addison Rae’s “Diet Pepsi.” Frontwoman Julie Dawson said after the set that it was “exactly what I imagine when I think about the feeling of playing in New York.”

Over at Baby’s, Television Overdose, aka TVOD, celebrated the release of its junior album, Party Time, which was released on May 9. Along with support from local rockers CDSM and Balaclava, the pictures prove there was a lot of crowd surfing, people, and punk rock vigor.

Check out some of Kate’s best photos from both nights.
