Read: Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry Tackles Online Misogyny

Chvrches

Over at The Guardian‘s music blog, frontwoman Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches recently shared intimate details concerning her continued personal experiences with online sexual abuse. The article is eloquent, honest, and rife with many painfully disheartening details, which are often left uncensored so as to adequately convey the depth and frequency of vulgarity thrown her way (and, sadly, I’m sure we’re just barely scratching the surface here). While there is clearly more than enough she could preach about, Mayberry uses the space as a spotlight rather than a soapbox — she hopes to create and further a necessary dialogue on a hideously-too-common issue shared by women of every occupation and stature, not just rally the masses with a battle-cry against men. Honestly, how she managed to articulate her particular situation was more than enough, but I give her serious props on the professional restraint in the face of such disgusting behavior. Isn’t it 2013? Please, get informed and share your voice here.
