Small Talk: Romain Barry

Parisian born musician Romain Barry recently dropped his newest (and first!) single ‘Moïzambique‘. The track will be featured on his upcoming album due in Autumn (and that’s all we know for now). The record will be the first of his work as a solo musician, having previously played in French techno-punk band Faire. We were curious to learn more so here’s a little small talk with Romain Barry.

1. Who are you? Where do you come from?

I’m Romain Barry, coming from many places like Guinea, Armenia, France. I’ve been living between France and Mexico for 8 years.

I grew up in Paris playing with my (band)mates Faire for many years. After COVID I wanted to explore my own music, so I went to Tepoztlan in the Mexican mountains to record my first solo album

2. What are you talking about in this song? What can we expect next?

Moïzambique started with this wild desertic oriental theme who gives the name to the song. Through the idea of the “I” which is “Moi” in French, it’s about how we’re forgetting ourselves, hiding under masks to be socially accepted. The lyrics talk about releasing those masks and opening our heart to the truth.

An album will be coming soon! I’m also finishing the writing of the second one this summer.

3. Describe a perfect day
