North Londoners Sorry have never been ones to shy away from the eccentric and chaotic. Ahead of their set at Green Man Festival 2026, Sorry returns with “Tom Will Smack Your Ass.” We are introduced to a caricature of a character we come to know as Tom, and although the bouncy piano lines and frontwoman Asha Lorenz’s honeyed vocals builds on the playful air of the track, Tom’s antics are anything but – “Tom drives a car / It’s a Fiat / Fucks you in his car / Like fuck it’s a Fiat.“
Accompanying the song is another video that is classically Sorry, through and through: a compilation of fan-sent videos of bums being smacked, directed by FLASHA Prod (Asha Lorenz and Flo Webb). The band notes: “no bums were harmed in the making of this video.”
Sorry have established themselves as one of the UK’s most prominent bands, known for a dizzying and sultry discography that is interwoven with Lorenz’s delicate vocals and dark and cutting lyricism. The magic of Sorry is partially in their storytelling. “Tom Will Smack Your Ass” turns Tom, the encapsulation of someone we’ve all crossed paths with, into a story – one that is a bit humorous, a bit dark, and endlessly human.
The new track follows the release of Sorry’s latest album, COSPLAY, a gorgeous showcasing of their eclectic style and laden with cultural, musical, literary, and even mathematical references, an exhibit of the band’s eclectic range of inspirations. In addition to headlining tours across the US, UK, and Europe, including a sold-out show at the Bowery Ballroom last winter, Sorry have supported acts like Fontaines D.C. and Sleaford Mods on tour.
