Early last month, Perth’s Tame Impala returned with the rather more progressive, albeit still explosive, eight-minute psych epic “Let It Happen,” – the music world awaiting details of the highly-anticipated follow-up to 2012’s Lonerism. Well, the news is in: their third full-length will be called Currents, and that’s its typically curious cover art above. As with “Let It Happen,” the band are boasting a habitually infectious but arguably more diverse new sound. Not so much the brazen guitar and snyth saga as with its posterior, the lead single “Cause I’m A Man” is as crisp as any past offering; a slower, soul infused number, with Parker’s voice more powerful than usual, gleaming at the fore.
