Toro Y Moi Give Us Concert Envy in Video for “Grown Up Calls”
It’s rare that I read about a new project from Toro Y Moi and am not clicking “share” without even listening myself. Chad Bundick, aka Toro Y Moi has dropped a video off his upcoming visual album”Toro Y Moi : Live in Trona.” Shot in California’s, beautiful Mojave Dessert, the band performs their bass-heavy track to an open venue under the cool evening sky, all in one take. They are set to release their 13 track project this fall accompanied with concert film. The best part about this “Grown Up Calls” video isn’t the mellow slow jazz rhythms, funky drum influences or Bundick’s nostalgic 80’s pitch. It’s the fact that the mix between the breathtaking views and lo-fi sound waves almost makes me forget I don’t have air conditioning in July. Toro Y Moi also released a trippy, much longer alternative to the song (well worth the 7 minutes), here. This fall, they will be going on a US tour as well as guest DJ’ing at a handful of venues below.
