Barging in with a dark and winding synth line, Cutouts latest single “Narc” is hypnotic and instantly captivating. Atmospherically, it begs to be listened to bathed in red lights, in a room you shouldn’t be in — perhaps with someone you shouldn’t be with either.
Of the single, Alex MacKay shared, “‘Narc’ was recorded at home over the last year. Conceptually it’s a song about duality, duplicity and seduction. Selling yourself out in order to get what you want. It’s my first release since joining NYC synth-pop group Nation of Language, and bears some influence from their more electronic sound.”
The accompanying music video was filmed on a Hi-8 camcorder — John MacKay’s directorial debut.
