Surrealist film guru David Lynch has teamed up with Moby for a reversion of his song “The Big Dream,” the opening track from his 2013 album of the same name. This incarnation of “The Big Dream” centers around more distinguishable, reverb-heavy layering than its warbling predecessor, with vocal duties now taken up Mindy Jones (whose debut solo EP MERCY was also produced by Moby).
The video is primarily a close-up of Jones as tricks of light and dark disorient both her face and the viewer’s perception. Jones keeps a cool, almost expressionless face as her surroundings strobe in and out of focus. Behind her, there are what appear to be menacing figures pacing back and forth in a zombified daze. Every so often we catch a glimpse of their grotesque faces, reminding us that these obscure horrors are lurking in the background, just biding their time.
