Here’s a song that, much as it belongs on an Urban Outfitters playlist, comes to life in an interesting way with the appropriate art direction and camera filter. MØ’s touting an aesthetic that is somewhat “Free People catalog meets demolition derby” with a fierce “girl power getting jiggy with it on a sexily desolate plane” that’s weirdly reminiscent of The Spice Girls circa “Say You’ll Be There.” All comparisons aside, this jam is about dancing, but not with anybody; it sounds like how it feels when you’re trying to live it up but everything around you has a lonely, forbidding quality to it. In other words, a Friday night in January.
