So, the coolest pizza delivery guy in America works in NYC, at Best Pizza in Brooklyn. He’s 52, has a beard, and rides a breakless fixie. I know, it’s pretty rad. He also loves his job, which makes it even cooler. I know some people see dudes and dudettes working on their bikes (as messengers or drug dealers) and think they must be broke and miserable and while they may be broke, they are most definitely not miserable.
I was a messenger for a while and the pay really sucked. Imagine almost getting hit by a truck to deliver a ten pound breast pump, crosstown with Central Park in the middle and making four dollars for your trouble. Even so, I miss it all the time. You can’t beat riding a bike around NYC, once you do it, you never stop. As Bill will tell you, “The day I can no longer ride a bike, better be the day I’m fucking dead.” This is a great short film about a pretty cool dude, check it out below.
