Justin Owlett reviewed Potty Mouth’s Hell Bent last year and loved it. Though I liked the album, it’s catchy punk sensibilities and clever lyricism (see: “The Better End”) didn’t really sink in until this year when I finally saw Potty Mouth live. The video for “Black and Studs” has endeared me even more to the band, since it serves as a sort of introduction by allowing us into one of the more private spheres of someone’s personality — their bedroom. It’s fitting that the video premiered on Rookie, and I’m hoping that all the girls (and boys) that have seen “Black and Studs” go back to the shot of the stack of books in Ally’s room and note what needs to be added to their personal collections, and the same goes for the tapes in Victoria’s room. I know I’m writing down a few names for sure. Watch the video below.
