After a 3 year hiatus, the LA-duo Sextile is back in a big way. Ushering in a new era with a short film scored by their two latest singles — “Modern Weekend” and “Contortion” — Sextile creates the visual and audio world that their music, and those lucky enough to come across it, can find themselves in.
In a mix of industrial rumblings and distorted hiccups, “Modern Weekend” propels forward with a comfortable and consistent intensity. It’s measured — waiting to strike. “Contortion” on the other hand is a full out dance track. With the flip of a cassette, we’re transported into the underground complete with a thumping bass, and a variety of different mechanic flourishes.
