Watch: Sharon Van Etten “Taking Chances”

unnamed (2)

One might say we here at Alt Citizen are excited for Sharon Van Etten’s new album Are We There. For instance, this will be the third time we’ve written about the debut single from the album, “Taking Chances.” This time, she’s released a full video for the song. The video was directed by Michael Palmieri and inspired by Agnès Varda. It’s a video very focused on appendages, specifically hands. In the most memorable part of the video Van Etten’s personal space is invaded by an army of hands that cover her face, making this germaphobe feel a little uncomfortable in the process. It also features Van Etten looking quite noir as a tarot card/palm reader. It’s all beautifully shot and artistically expressive. Check it out below.
