SUO’s “Lightning Strikes” turns heartbreak into a cartoon fever dream wrapped in shimmering power pop and downtown New York attitude. Written by Saara Untracht-Oakner and recorded in Mexico City with producer Pablo Valero, the single moves through the emotional whiplash of endings: pain, acceptance, fantasy, and the thrill of starting over.
For the video, Untracht-Oakner collaborated with Hungarian animator Áron Filkey to build a surreal ToonTown-inspired universe influenced by Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The music video blends green screen performance, hand-drawn character design, and chaotic cartoon energy into something both nostalgic and emotionally untethered.
SUO’s live band is currently a super group consisting of Josephine (Josephine Network), Max Hersh (Dirty Fences), Robert Earl Thomas (Widowspeak). Bonded by their love and appreciation for songwriting, harmonies, and pure rock & roll, all seasoned members play in multiple bands together, forming a solid collective of NY rockers.
SUO will be recording a full length album in June with Paul Millar. The next show will be July 25 at Rippers in Rockaway with Malavista and Bad Guy Network.
