The enigmatic Sean Lennon and Charlottee Kemp Muhl riff on cult psychedelia in The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger’s (GOASTT) music video for their latest single, “Animals.” The NSFW video opens as a “documentary” and finds the duo as the “father and mother” of a congregation of free-spirits who meet in the woods to party and perform rituals. Plenty of surreal imagery abounds, including Lennon serenading a goldfish and a llama, super colorful image overlays, and cops who come to bust up but ultimately join an orgy-esque sing along.
The song is moody psychedelic folk, and it’s fascinating how similar Lennon’s vocals are to his father’s. The dreamy tune thrives on spacey synth and guitar effects, airy harmonies, and an explosive chorus, which finds escaped zoo animals running amok on 5th Avenue. Check out the video below.
