FIDLAR return with grimy, loud-louder-loud “FSU”

FIDLAR are back, and it’s grimy as ever.

“FSU” – for Fuck Shit Up – is so extremely FIDLAR. Produced by Dave Sardy (Spoon, LCD Soundsystem, Red Hot Chili Peppers), it’s like they weren’t even gone for these couple of long years. The song is full of heavy guitars, padded by some empty space that makes the impact even harder. In the video directed by Ryan Baxley, Zach, Max, and Brandon (Elvis taking a leave to pursue other things) are covered in dirt and eventually dark, shiny black goo. There might be something in their teeth, like they fell into the dirt while screaming into the void, and the black ‘n bruised eyes only support that theory.

This is a song for the FIDLAR fans who were really sad about the news that they wouldn’t be making music anymore. It’s closer to Too  or their self-titled than their 2019 Almost Free, which some people maybe didn’t like as much as it veered a little bit away from what they knew and loved about the band into some more experimental and fun/funny stuff. This comeback single gives fidiots high hopes for the inevitable full project coming next.

The band says, “New FIDLAR is leaning into the extremes. Loud, louder, loud. Three chords and the truth. Catchy and obnoxious. Lyrics are very thought mouth. It’s speaking to the FIDIOTS of the world.”

Watch “FSU” below and keep up with FIDLAR here and here.
