Listen: Dick Diver “Tearing The Posters Down”

Melbourne outfit Dick Diver delivers a quirky, indie-rock jam with “Tearing The Posters Down.” The song is like a Saturday morning — waking up alone to an empty house with nothing to do but lounge around and wander from room to room. It opens with a tribal-ish beat and eventually builds into a suave, lackadaisical groove that’d be perfect for any secret basement show. The guitar work is delicate, using a chorus effect and a little distortion, and mixes well with the synth lines when they make a brief appearance. Though the new wave influences are obvious, “Tearing The Posters Down” is never predictable, and the lyrics are both surprising and satisfying. If you’re moving out, or in the mood for some lazy debauchery, give it a spin.
