Listen: KING WOMAN “Boghz”

“Boghz” is the last glimpse from King Woman’s upcoming sophomore album, Celestial Blues. The track follows the release of the first two singles “Morning Star” and “Psychic Wound”. In this third single, King Woman’s songwriter and vocalist, Kris Esfandiari, leaves behind the ethereal doom songstress role we first saw in “Morning Star” to incorporate a more spacious, intriguing, and playful catharsis. I mean, the band and the singer go there towards the end of “Psychic Wound” where Esfandiari’s growls connote intimacy and resurrection. When you get to “Boghz” you realize how multi-dimensional the track is with more dynamics, gorgeous melodies, and an impatient yet ambitious sound. “It’s a tragic story about one ancient soul split in two separate bodies. Only knowing a sick and twisted version of love, one half nearly destroys the other,” adds King Woman’s Kris Esfandiari. “It’s about being at the mercy of a sadistic person who you have an undeniable psychic bond with.” From tribal-liked drums to a consistent expansion of sludge metal sounds, Esfandiari’s vocals create a time warp of dynamics that’s imaginative yet minimalist and bigger than life.

Celestial Blues is out on July 30 via Relapse Records.
