Premiere: Watch The Ehems “Eh Eh Hem”

Art is a process that often doesn’t have a planned path. When you let things happen as they come to you, in the moment – when an artist does – that’s the truest representation of how that artist perceived that moment. With music being a time-based art, it’s conducive to a collaborative creative process. But time is a construct, so take that for what it’s worth?

Oh man, it’s too early and I’m typing this on my phone because my computer’s imploding, though that seems pretty appropriate given the nature of this video.

The Ehems believe in the journey more than they do the destination, and with this video for “Eh Eh Hem”, it’s manifested in a physical form. Before even looking at what they’d captured, they took to the reels with flames, nails, dirt, and piss. They wanted this object to have the same feeling of spontaneity and exploration that they feel when creating music. If the need to explore leads to destruction and urination, then so be it!

The same goes for their music. I can’t speak for whether or not any bodily fluids are used in the practice space or studio, but these guys are open to unraveling whichever thread of an idea that shows itself. That’s why they welcome you to call them “country dubstep,” for all they care. To them, and to many others, it’s about the layers of paint, or piss, or chords and rhythms that were willed there by the moment above all else.

Putting the “wrecked” film and cohesively soothingly reckless song together oddly puts you at ease. You feel comfortable in these boys’ desire to embrace he unknown.
