Creating a sense of uneasiness, restlessness, and dissatisfaction with their present reality, Constant Smiles, a project lead by artist Ben Jones, has released their first video as Sacred Bones latest signee: “Run to Stay”. Speaking to their own moments of detachment in social settings and the constant gnawing feeling like you need to return to the hamster wheel, only to realize that work make be insignificant or that the promise of work was an excuse in itself. The video shows the band running, driving, and searching through the night for a destination that is perpetually out of reach.

As Ben Jones shares: “‘Run To Stay’ is about not being present in the moment, and struggling with antisocial tendencies. Like when you’re at a party or talking to someone but you’re only half paying attention to what they’re saying because you can’t stop thinking about other things you need to do. Or when you avoid hanging out with friends because you want to work on music or something, but nothing comes to you so you just end up sitting around all day.”

Regarding the video, Jones goes on to say: “We were trying to capture that anxious feeling of always needing to be somewhere or be doing something else but realizing that it isn’t ever that important.”

Constant Smiles will be playing Brooklyn two times in the near future. You can catch them at TV Eye with Bambara on October 2nd and support Black Marble at Music Hall of Williamsburg on November 12th. Their debut release with Sacred Bones, Paragons, is out November 12th.
