J. Fernandez‘s music has a wonderfully hazy lo-fi allure, as exhibited on his earlier EPs. Now, the sluggish “Read My Mind” (a positive sluggish that is) is the first to surface from his upcoming debut album, due out this June. A lazy, carefree ode to indie mainstays such as Yo La Tengo, the song is dominated by an assembly of intertwining guitars and woozy organ melody, affixed perfectly by Fernandez’s humble voice. It’s a distinctly gruff and somber song, yet totally charming.
