Watch: The Front Bottoms “Jim Bogart”

front bottomsJersey locals The Front Bottoms have just released a lyric video for “Jim Bogart,” a track from their upcoming EP Rose. The video finds their new EP’s cover art — of one Grandma Rose — singing along to this earnest acoustic track, with the lyrics streaming beneath. The song falls somewhere between indie, pop punk, and emo, giving you some high school nostalgia but without burying you in it. The vocals are charming in their warbly, almost of tune delivery, and the back and forth and reversal of parts between singer Brian Sella and the girl he is pining for make for a compelling little musical device. The instrumentation starts simple, but eventually flourishes of trumpet and flute and some vocal interplay make the track more and more dynamic, pushing forward until a huge unexpected crescendo takes us to a full band outro. It’s a killer moment to jump on stage and sing along.

Check out the video below.

Rose is out via Bar/None on June 17.
