It’s hard to believe but we’ve been doing Cult Citizen for long enough that our next one will be the 20th! And it seems that whatever demons we’ve been sacrificing our musical entities too have finally smiled upon us and we are presenting our 20th show as an official showcase at SXSW.
It’s been a long strange journey so a refresher in case you need it: Cult Citizen has been going on for two years and is a monthly showcase curated by us alongside Julian Casablancas’ record label, Cult Records. This year to celebrate our 20th show (and first official show at SXSW) we’re bringing 6 bands integral to New York’s underground scene—Surfbort, Promiseland, BOYTOY, Bambara, CHILLEMI, and Kyle Avallone. A combination of recent Cult Records signees, local stalwarts, and unsigned talent—Cult Citizen SXSW edition is the distilled grit, grime and essence of New York’s music scene.
Do we need a sxsw music badge or bracelet to get into the venue? Will individual tickets be sold?
